About

Million Mile Challenge

We're passionate about helping our community. Whether that's through financial assistance, support with caring responsibilities or help with mental wellbeing. We're here to support all civil servants, past and present, throughout their lives, with whatever problems they may have.

Keeping mentally and physically fit is an important part of the mix because we recognise leading a healthy lifestyle has huge benefits for all of us.

Like any charity we’re funded by the generosity of our donors. In our case our donors are the same people we help, people like you and with this generosity we can develop and deliver our support services. We've combined walking with fundraising in an ingenious challenge designed to increase your fitness and wellbeing and raise much needed funds at the same time. In 2018 people came to us for help over 48,000 times and we were able to give over £2 million in financial help. Your registration and any sponsorship money you raise will help us support more civil servants.

The Walking Challenge was launched in 2012 and to date over 11,600 civil servants from right across the UK have taken part, raising an incredible £247,000! Often people take part in teams but as individual walkers too. Everyone taking part are determined to increase their daily exercise to 10,000 steps a day for 50 days. This year we’re challenging the Civil Service community to come together and walk a million miles in 50 days. In 2018 together you walked over 779,000 miles, so we’re convinced that if you can get a team set up and everyone enters their steps we can achieve this target! So what are you waiting for Register Today!

The Charity for Civil Servants is grateful to the Civil Service Insurance Society for sponsoring The Walking Challenge.
